Roll Call Groups
Students are placed in roll groups according to surname. In these groups, students have their attendance marked each morning, receive the daily notices, and engage in silent sustained reading (SSR) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The Friday session is set aside for SRC visits, fund raising activities and discussions. Each group contains students from Years 7 to 11.
Absent from school
Bowral High School utilises the “MessageU” SMS program to notify parents/ caregivers when students are absent or late to school without a reason. Student absences can be notified by SMS before 9.30am on the morning of the absence or lateness. The school’s SMS number is available from the front office. If parents/ caregivers do not have a mobile phone they can notify absences by calling the school on 4861 2255 before 9.30am or by sending a note with their child on the day of return to school. This note is given to the child’s roll call teacher.
Late to school
If late to school, students must provide a reason. This can be done via SMS to the school’s SMS number or via a note. Notes must be handed in to the front office where late students sign in. Students who arrive late while roll call is still in progress go directly to room E29.
Weekly Assembly
On Mondays, the school holds a weekly assembly in the quadrangle. Announcements are made, rolls marked and student achievement recognised during these assemblies.
Leaving School Early - appointments etc
If a student needs to leave the school during school hours, permission must be requested from the school by a written note from parent/caregiver taken to the Front Office before 8.50 am.
Lunch Passes
Students are not permitted out of school for lunch.
Lost property
The responsibility for personal property rests with the student. Valuables and large sums of money should NOT be brought to school; the nature of school life means students will often be away from their bags. Lost property such as clothing, is stored in the Front Office.
