Attendance

Roll Call

Roll Call is held everyday in Roll Groups and class attendance is recorded for each lesson. The class teacher's attendance records are used in part to determine satisfactory compliance with Board of Studies requirements for the award of a School Certificate or Higher School Certificate.

Absences

Parents are required to phone the school if your child is going to be absent. This number is available from the school office. Absences may still be notified via a note signed by parents/care providers to the roll teacher, on the first day back at school, explaining the absence. For extended absences, leave must be sought from the principal in writing. The school has a SMS facility to notify parents/care providers of student absences or lateness.  SMS messages will be sent every day.  You can respond to a message by reply SMS or by telephoning the school.  NB. There is no facility to send an early notification of an absence via SMS.

Senior Study Leave

HSC course students in Year 12 are often scheduled for lessons before and/or after school and may have an extended period without lessons during the day. In recognition of the special needs of Year 12, a study leave option is offered. This allows approved students (with their parents'/careproviders' permission) to attend school only when they have lessons or at other times specified by the school. Once approved Year 12 students have signed out, they will be under the care of their parents/careproviders. Full details of the program appear on the application  form.

Lateness

If a student is late for school after 9.00am, he or she must report to the Late Room E29 with a note. After 9.05am report to the Front Office. Lateness may also be notifed by phone prior to 9.30am.  Parents/care providers will be notified by SMS of any lateness.  You can respond to a message by SMS reply or by phone.

Leaving Class

All students must be punctual to each class and are not permitted to be absent from classes or leave classes without permission. Permission to leave the class will only be given for exceptional reasons and students must be able to produce their Student Diary  showing a note from the teacher granting permission. Before returning to class, the student should ensure that a member of staff stamps or makes a note in the Diary.

Leaving School Grounds

Students are not permitted to leave the school grounds or playing fields unless they have a very compelling reason and a note dated and signed requesting permission from their parent/careprovider. This note must be given to the Front Office staff before 8.50am who will issue and attach a School Leave Pass for Partial Absence pass to your school diary. Students with permission for students to leave grounds if the parent/careprovider phones the school only, but a faxed note signed and dated by the parent will be accepted. If the student is required to leave the grounds and has not been provided with a note, parents are expected to collect the student in person and sign the student out.

Leaving School Permanently

Students who intend to leave school must bring a note from their parent/careprovider (as recorded on our school files). Please indicate on this note, if moving address as well as school please be sure to inform us of these changes, so as we are able to pass on any correspondence to you. Return all text and/or Library books and settle any outstanding school fees. Obtain and complete a blue Leaver's Form from the Finance Office.
