(important for students and parents to know)

Variety - Don't spend too much time on one subject or any one activity.

Concentration - Keep your mind on what you are doing. Continually assiss yourself while you are studying. Check what you you have learnt before turning over the page. Have regular breaks.

Activity - To learn effectively you need to be acitive. Writing  and questioning yourself helps you learn. Practise writing key ideas and acts from memory.

Regualr revision of summaries and mind maps will save you having to restudy a topic. Make sure you save them in a notebook so you can use them again.

Organisation - Careful planning is important. Use your diary to help you plan ahead for due dates, of assignments and assessment tasks, so things don't get left until the last minute.

Understanding - Make sure the work you are covering is meaningful. If you do not understand it then you need to ask for help.

Revision- It is really easy to forget what you have learned unless you go over it within 24 hours after the lesson or activity. You may need to re-learn previous work so that new work makes sense. Use summaries and mind maps to help you achieve this.
